You step sideways back to the material world and see that everyone's looking more cheerful. You get rolling towards the base in signicantly higher spirits. You travel for a day before you have to sleep. You:...

You all get a conciderable nights sleep. You get up in the morning. You can smell cooking meat. You look over from your make-shift bed consisting of jackets, shoes and rifles, to see Jenny with a frying pan over a solid fuel burner. It smells damned good. You eat a decient breakfast of bacon and more bacon. You carry on moving onwards. Until Tolton passes out.

we take a break. I carefully check him for any wounds which may have caused this, if there are none I eat some rations I also take a swig from my water bottle, I encourage the others to do the same. When Tolton gets up I talk to him. " do you have any medical problems Tolton? anemia? diabetes?"

You place your hand to his throat, in attempt to feel his pulse. There is none. He's still breathing.

Your bullet flys though the barrel, it contacts his skull, it breaks though one side and out the other. It hit the concrete and richets out his ear. It flys up, richets off the wall ceiling and hits your left arm. It goes in about an inch. Fuck does it hurt. You:...

i hurriedly pull out the bullet and throw it to the floor. I disinfect the wound using the medical supplies in my bag and then stitch and bandage the wound (i think I know what your doing, but you have to remember the conversation we had earlier about how the virus works, the worst that going happen to him is a slight pain in his arm, on top of the wound from the bullet, then he'll be fine...)

You stich it up. Jenny runs along and has a quick look. Thirty seconds later she diagnoses a heart attack. The actual killer being the seven and a half millimeter piece of copper flying through his head.

we continue onwards, I'm now constantly on look out for ANYTHING out of the ordinary, I make doubly sure that people aren't wounded in any way, and address the group. My tone is difficult to place. "Tolton's death is one more thing which has forced me to think about what WILL happen to us all if we don't get out of here soon," I pause, my emotions become more and more apparent as I speak. My voice raises with each word, my teeth become more and more exposed with each breath I take."does anyone know why he died? does anyone know WHY all of this happened, why I had to do what I did? we need to find out whats going on NOW! we need to stop all of this needless death! BUT WE CANT!! WERE STUCK HERE UNTIL WE FIND THE WAY OUT! AND GOD DAM IT WE ARE GOING TO GET THERE BY MORNING! were going to double our pace! were going to ignore our aches and pains! we will get to the base and we will find whatever is causing this!

You get there by the next morning. There is a large shutter with: Do Not Enter over it. There is a number coded pad next to it. It's LCD display is lit.

"Yes, sir. There was a large mob. They must have sealed it thinking I wouldn't come back." I goes over to the pad and starts typing. After a few failed attempts ending in beeps. He pulls out a screw driver and starts hacking it. After five minutes it beeps, the LED turns green and the door starts sliding upwards. There in an armed assault team behind, all pointing shiney new Trigger rifles at you. "FIR-" He stops mid order. "HOLD! At ease! Sir. They - We thought you were dead." The stand, in parade-gound-fassion they salute you and the leader escorts you, the Engineer re-seals the exit. You're taken to your generals. On the way he breaks the silence: "Sir. Have you seen John, John Carson? Wasn't he working at your headquarters as the Cheif Commander of Secuirty?"

"we need to get the mechanic contained somewhere, he could be trouble for all of us. Did you have any idea whats causing people to act in this way?"

"keep him sealed away from the rest of us, I know it sounds inhuman, but move him to our high security cells (a high walled 20 inch glass chamber with its own ventilation system, a series of thin tubes embedded in the ceiling which are connected to a pump, which is connected to another series of tiny, metallic tubes which lead outside, the wall is fitted into a slot in the floor, which is many floors high, slotting into the middle of the walls below and above the cell itself and reaching the very bottom basement floor, which cannot be accessed at all, because it is a large more or less empty chamber with no doors, there are only one set of walls, which are many meters thick then surrounded by earth. The cell wall is mechanically lifted by a switch in the control room, on the base floor(not the one previously described the one above that one), once the wall is lifted a sufficient amount a 20 inch reinforced metal door, with key card , pin and retinal security access is brought up, this door has a small hatch which food and drink can be literally fired into, then shut, this hatch is around the size of a tennis ball, food and drink is contained in plastic containers which fit snugly and are propelled forwards by a gust of pressurized gas from a machine they are put into, this machine is also protected via pin and key card, as well as palm reading security and can be set to fire sleeping gas(if the command is given verbally and a password is spoken), the room containing the cell is large and well lit, it contains at many plasma firing turrets and many more assault turrets, as well as security cameras, the cell is guarded by a unit of the most elite members of Johnny's special, highly skilled and trained military division, the D. O. G. Division(Decimation Operatives Guard). Up to now there has only been a lone captive within the cell, a highly dangerous war criminal, Garry Heam, whom had made himself into a killing machine through gene therapy.

it needs to be done, for the security of this base, and the safety of everyone else," I pauce "our other guest should be restrained anyway" I gesture at the war criminal(through 20 something inches of ultr clear glass and reenforcements) he has manical like divices on his hands and ankles and as well as wearing a muzzel. iover see the engeneere bieng locked away, ensureing everything is secure, then go to the command room and summon every one else who was with me on my journey.
